“TLC is a dream come true; the culmination of a goal that began when I was just a little girl. When I was in kindergarten, I was asked by my teacher what I wanted to be when I grew up. My response was "hospital worker." My answer wasn't the standard reply of doctor or nurse. I knew I wanted to help people, children in particular, in the medical field, but I didn't know yet what that meant. When I was 10, I learned about occupational therapy and instantly knew that was what I was called to do. I feel incredibly blessed to work at a place with so many individuals who see what they do as a calling. I love working along side people with varying professional backgrounds with one common goal: to help every child reach their greatest potential. TLC is a team, a village, for the families we serve. We are a community. We give hope, we show love and compassion, and we instill in each child that enters our doors that they matter and are valued. Each child is unique and special. I love when our kids enter our doors their faces light up. They know that they are loved, cared for and cherished. They know that we are cheering for them. Why do I work at TLC? I believe this is God's calling for my life. I am right where I am supposed to be, doing what I was designed to do. Some days are hard, but everyday is worth it.”

“I love working at TLC because I love seeing a child progress and grow throughout their time here through their own perseverance along with the strength and support of our amazing team.”

“I chose to work at Center for TLC because it was an interdisciplinary facility. TLC allowed me from the time of my interview up until now to provide my clients with compassionate, loving and ethical therapy. I've enjoyed collaborating with the other disciplines and learning about so many different ways of teaching my clients. I loved watching the behavior therapists who have worked on my team grow and either begin going down the path of a BCBA or just overall increase in knowledge. I've loved being in an office where I can bounce ideas off my co-workers and when needed sharing emotional highs and lows. I've grown so much during my time at TLC and despite some tough moments, I wouldn't trade the opportunities I've had. Thank you, Tori and Amanda, for letting me be a part of the TLC family.”

“The reasons that I work at TLC are as follows. I love being able to put smiles on the kids’ faces, giving them the feeling of wanting to come back to TLC each and other day is a really heartwarming and wonderful feeling. Understanding and being able to see the strengths that outshine the weaknesses that many others may not be able to see. Each and every day may not be super easy, however they are worthwhile and fulfilling once you know and see the progress the kids have made over a very short or long period of time. It’s not everyday you are able to work at a place like TLC, with like-minded individuals who want to make a difference in the minds of a whole bunch of different kinds of kids from varying backgrounds and personalities.”

“I started at TLC as a volunteer to obtain experience hours for school, little did I know I'd fall in love with so many of the amazing kiddos! As my job roles have changed over the 10 years I've been at TLC, my love for our kiddos and families continues to grow each and every day. I work with some of the most caring and amazing coworkers who teach and encourage me everyday.”

“TLC graciously took a chance on me as an OT student and after graduation I couldn't imagine working anywhere else. TLC felt like home! Working with all of our kiddos is challenging yet rewarding in so many ways. I am able to use what I've learned in school, and continue to learn through continuing education classes, during each treatment session. My team encourages me to continue to use what I've learned over the years and always has new ideas to try.”

“I work at TLC because I have a passion for helping others. I have experience with myself and in helping others who have a harder time speaking for themselves due to mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, and I want to be a voice for those who need assistance to grow and develop into a stronger individual.”

“There are so many reasons why I work at TLC, but I guess the main reason that all the little reasons fall under is support. I love and am so thankful all of the support I am given my my managers and coworkers, but I also feel accomplished when I am able to provide the support that our children need to help them thrive! I also love the feeling I get when a parent is thankful for the support I can provide to them, whether its a completed program that helped their child in some way or to just be a listening ear on a bad (or a good!) day. I do not anticipate leaving TLC any time soon because the support from my managers and coworkers comes in so many different sizes and styles, on a professional AND a personal level. I have worked at various places in the past and to find both, is quite rare. Every single manager has always given me opportunists to grow and learn in this field and this clinic specifically, and I find myself trying to spread the same opportunists to teach and provide the support to my coworkers and my most favorite, is training the new hires. I hope my excitement about ABA is contagious and inspires the new hires to keep asking questions and looking for the support that is all around them the way that I do.
There are so many employees that work at TLC, however when I need assistance with something it feels like I am the only one here. Sarah in HR gave me a call to help with unemployment and make sure I knew all my options during the second shutdown, you and Amanda helped me SO MUCH when I know you had a million other things to do during the first shutdown. Amanda and you always takes the time out of your day to acknowledge the kids and staff and see if we need anything. And if we do, the follow through from the both of you is so prompt and through. It is an amazing example and trickle down effect for all staff to see and replicate.
I didn't intend for this to be so long, however once I started I felt like I just couldn't stop. Since I started at TLC a short 2.5 years ago, I have gained various role models and sparks of inspiration from my team, and relationships that I will forever cherish between the children I work with, my managers, and my coworkers!”

“Well it started out as an option for a career change. Over time it's become a passion! I love doing the intakes hearing the families stories and being able to offer them a solution (I love being able to help people). Most of the time the parents don't know where to go from here, and then once the kiddos start you talk to the parents and they are just so relieved we've been able to help them in such a tremendous way. I've established amazing relationships with the families as well as gained amazing co-workers who love what they do.”

“I'm here at TLC because I love these kids! I love their imaginations, endless smiles, little giggles, and even the flip side when they are upset, angry, or aggressive. I know they need someone in those moment to help them and I LOVE being there to support, encourage, love, and care for them. Having amazing teammates and bosses who support and have our backs, is a great bonus too ;) <3”

“For me the best part of working at TLC is seeing all the growth. My job has pushed me to grow in so many areas. But even cooler than that is watching the growth in each and every one of our kiddos! Seeing the daily and overall changes in each patient and within their families is so rewarding.”

“Well, I truly believe that this is where God wants me. When people and situations cross your path that you'd never expect and you pray for guidance, I do believe it is divine providence. I chose to work here because I enjoy children and the untainted innocence they have. I need a challenge, and, never working with autistic children before, this job gave me that challenge. I am also the type of person who cannot sit all day at a desk and this job has me up and moving. Lastly, I enjoy the fact that I am interacting with many people. I love the children I work with and I love the people who work here. The kids warm my heart and they help me grow as a person every day. Sometimes I feel I receive more from them than they do from me. This is an amazing staff! I have never worked with such dedicated and genuinely caring people. I feel so blessed to be here!”

“There are so many reasons why I am here. I love everything that TLC stands for. Most importantly, our kiddos come first and foremost. It is so hard to find a workplace that truly want's what is best for those they serve and that's what TLC does!”

“I am here not only for experience, but for being a part of the fun that learning brings. I have a passion for seeing progress first hand and being someone to teach a love for learning.”

“The reason I started working at TLC was because the job description, hours, location were all what I was looking for. The reason I am here 2 years later is because I think the work being done here is wonderful, the care and compassion of the therapists is outstanding and I love working with Christina!”
